“My Shelf Confessions is having a month long event celebrating all things Zombie and Vampire! Which monster reigns supreme?! I must confess. I rarely read vampire or zombie books.
There, I said it.
I am not opposed to vampires or zombies. I just don’t know what to pick.
I have been reading a variety of vampire/zombie books this month.
I asked people around my library for must-read book suggestions.
The top vote? Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series.
So, I am going to read Night Pleasures (vampire-related) during the blog hop and I am giving away three paperback copies of Night Pleasures. It is book one or two in the series, depending on the site that you look at (Kenyon’s site says it is book one). This giveaway is US-only.
[I’ll be posting a vampire-related YA giveaway on August 23 that is open internationally.]
I have a number of vampire and zombies reads/posts lined up during this hop. Be sure to drop back by and check them out.

About Night Pleasures (18+)
See how it all began…
Have you ever wanted to know what it’s like to be immortal? To journey through the night stalking the evil that preys on humans? To have unlimited wealth, unlimited power?
That is my existence, and it is dark and dangerous. I play hero to thousands, but am known to none. And I love every minute of it.
Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: an accountant. She’s smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal.
My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Now I find myself wanting to believe that love and loyalty do…

Read World War Z. The movie of the same name doesn’t follow the book.
I missed the movie when it was in theaters. Did you like the movie?
I have requested World War Z from the library. I am going try and get it in during Bout of Books this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by!
joyee flynn has a whole series of vampire books and all are good
I haven’t read any of Joyee Flynn’s books. Looks like she has multiple series with vampires (and other supernaturals). Which series did you like best?
Have you read any books by Kylie Scott? She has written adult, steamy distopians about humans surviving zombies…the first book is called Flesh. AWESOME!
Barrie
No, I haven’t read any of Kylie Scott’s books. The Flesh series sounds extra spicy. LOL! I have added it to my TBR list and BookMooch wish list. Thanks for the suggestion.
The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine
This series is at my library. I’ll start “Glass Houses” during Something Wicked Returns. Thanks for the recommendation.
I suggest reading Alice in Zombieland, and STEM by Christopher Blankley!
Which “Alice in Zombieland?” By Nickolas Cook, Gena Showalter, or Joshua Cook?
I have added STEM by Christopher Blankley to my TBR list.
Thanks for stopping by!
The Vampire Empire series by Clay Griffith. Its really great.
“Vampire Empire is transforming genre fiction.” Paul Goat Allen, B&N Explorations.
Why did I not know about the series? Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I have added it to my TBR list and BookMooch wish list.
I recently read a really fun new beginning of a series titled Once Upon a Zombie Apocalypse (Jade) by Jennifer Malone Wright it is a very short beginning of a serial that is being coauthored by K.B. Miller and begins with two books one from Jade’s POV and the other from Kylee and future episodes will be combined. Definitely worth reading and great for a chuckle 🙂
I have been trying to read more novellas this year. They always leave me wanting more. Zombie and humorous, huh? I’ll give Once Upon a Zombie Apocalypse a try. Thanks for recommending the book. I look forward to reading it.
Bad Mouth by Angela McCallister is a good vampire novel to read. It has great writing, interesting characters, and an involved plot. michelle_willms@yahoo.com
I liked your review of Bad Mouth! I’ve added it to my TBR list.
Thanks for stopping by!
The Black Dagger Brotherhood is a good adult vampire series, I also enjoy the YA Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead… I’m not as useful in recommending zombie books, seeing as I haven’t read too many
OneClickDigital has part of The Black Dagger Brotherhood series in audiobooks. (I love audiobooks). I’ll start with Dark Lover and see how it goes. I’ve also added Vampire Academy to my TBR list. Thanks for stopping by!
Pingback: Thunder! Na-na-na-naaaa-na-na-naaa-na - Where the plot comes from @pwtucker
I’d recommend The Hollows series by Kim Harrison or Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Thanks for the giveaway!
Sweet! These are at my library. I will check them out in October for Halloween-themed reading. Thanks for the recommendations.
I’ll also drop by your website to check out chapter 1 of your book, Daughter of the Sun.

Dead World series by Joe McKinney is a pretty good one for zombies
I have added the Dead World series to my TBR. It looks pretty good. It’s not at my library or available on PaperbackSwap ;-( I’ll get a copy of “Dead City” to read in time for Something Wicked Returns. Thanks for the recommendation.

haha – I still haven’t read any Kenyon…or wait maybe I have…its got naughty bits huh? heavy on the romance? Yeah not my thing usually – good luck to the winner!
I usually don’t read a lot of romances either. One of my goals this year is to expand my genre range. I felt like I must live under a reading rock after talking to people at the library. They recommended all sorts of books that I was unfamiliar with. I knew of Sherrilyn Kenyon, but not her Dark-Hunter series.
If you like erotic vampire books, I would highly recommend reading Fetish by Sherri L. King. It is my Favorite Vamp book! kbinmich@yahoo.com
The closest thing to erotic vampire books that I have read is the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Does that count? 😉 I’ve added Fetish to my TBR list for reading during Something Wicked Returns. Thanks for stopping by!
For zombie books, I highly recommend Z.A. Reicht’s Morningstar Strain series. Very realistic.
Dead living was a pretty awesome Zombie book. (:
I recommend The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan and Working Stiff by Rachel Caine
Thanks for the giveaway!!!
BDB series by JR Ward
I highly recommend Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. I love it 🙂
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
Vampire Kisses is a really good book, it’s on the older side but it’s a light fun quick read 🙂
Amazing giveaway. I really like Taking on the Dead by Annie Walls and As the World Dies by Rhiannon Frater
Love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series! Other vampire books I would recommend are the Dark (Carpathian) series by Christine Feehan, the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, the Chicagoland Vampire series by Chloe Neill, and the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. Thanks for the great giveaway!
