June is International Crime Month!

As I said in my Armchair BEA Discussion: Genre Fiction post, my favorite fiction genre is mystery. Any kind: <in my best Bubba Gump voice> traditional mystery, legal thriller, medical thriller, cozy mystery, police procedural, murder mystery, crime, detective story, gangster, hardboiled, young adult. So I was really excited when I learned that June has been designated International Crime Month (see the Shelf Awareness reader’s newsletter using the Twitter link below). I looked up the books of the participating authors and they look good! My only problem is where to start…

International Crime Month is a month-long initiative featuring internationally acclaimed crime fiction authors, editors, critics, and publishers appearing together in a series of readings, panels, and discussions. Four of America’s most influential independent publishers—Grove Atlantic, Akashic Books, Melville House, and Europa Editions—have joined forces to promote one of the most vital and socially significant fiction genres of our time. – International Crime Month
